Starr was born right here on our farm in the spring of 1999.  She is where the 'Starr' in our farm name came from.  Starr was sold as a weanling in fall 1999 to Kayla Jones down in Springfield, Or.  They kept her for a few years and as a 2 year old in the spring of 2001, sold her to Lauren Rudolph in Turner, Or.  At the age of 3, on New Years 2002 Missi had the opportunity to buy her back, and of course she did.  Starr is and will always be a farm favorite and will live out her days here on our farm, she will never be sold again.

In 2007 Missi decided to breed Starr to Color Me Awesome, who at the time belonged to Jordan Steven in Springfield, Or.  Starr was never confirmed bred but we were sure she was.  Then came spring and no baby.  So we re-bred her to 'Awesome' just before he made to long journey to Canada to live at his new home with Debbie Hertz at Dreamcatcher Equine in Medicine Hat, Alberta.  Thank goodness she took, there was no second chance!

Starr's due date was March 14th, Missi's birthday and we could hardly wait!  We started checking her at the end of February.  And we checked her, and checked her and checked her.  She got bigger and bigger and bigger.  Then people started to ask if we were sure she was bred.  Of course we were sure, look at that belly we would tell them.  Her due date came, and went and we started counting first days late, then weeks late, then a month late...ok Starr how long are going to keep that baby from us?  She was so late Sky foaled first! 

But finally 7 weeks late Cal arrived!  And he was identical to Starr, with out the star.  We combined Starr and Awesome's names and came up with MnD Smokin HotN Awesome.  Check him out on his page!
